Complete Rarity Guide for Grow a Garden
Master the rarity system to get the best rewards from your cooking
How the Rarity System Works
In Grow a Garden, the rarity of your cooked food depends on two main factors:
- Ingredient Rarity: Using Giant, Mutated, or special crops like Bone Blossom increases rarity
- Ingredient Size/Volume: Bigger plants produce higher rarity dishes
🔬 Rarity Formula
Final Rarity = Base Recipe + (Ingredient Rarity × Volume Multiplier)
Using all Giant/Mutated ingredients can boost a Normal recipe to Prismatic!

💡 Pro Tips for Maximum Rarity
Focus on One Perfect Recipe
Instead of making many different dishes, perfect one Prismatic recipe. Prismatic Pizza is the most consistent and profitable.
Invest in Rare Seeds Early
Buy Bone Blossom and Giant Pinecone seeds from other players. They're expensive but pay for themselves quickly with high-rarity dishes.
Track Your Success Rates
Keep notes on which ingredient combinations work best. RNG can vary, but patterns emerge over time.
Time Your Cooking with Chris P.
When Chris P. is craving your Prismatic dish, you get 2-3x rewards. Plan your cooking sessions around his schedule!
❌ Common Rarity Mistakes to Avoid
- Using normal ingredients expecting rare outcomes - rarity is predictable, not random
- Mixing too many different rare ingredients - focus on proven combinations
- Not checking ingredient size - a "rare" small crop is worse than a giant normal one
- Ignoring Chris P.'s preferences - timing is crucial for maximizing rewards
- Selling rare ingredients instead of cooking with them - the multiplier is worth it
